Francesca Romero Forteza holds a Ph.D. in Catalan Studies and is a lecturer in the Applied Linguistics Department at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where she teaches courses on Catalan for specific purposes in different engineering degree programs. At present, she is the sub-director in charge of teaching issues in the Applied Linguistics Department. Her research work focuses on the field of teaching and learning through information and communication technologies (ICT), and, more specifically, on self-learning modes. Other research interests for her include the evaluation of virtual learning environments and language teaching for specific purposes. Her Ph.D. thesis was distinguished with the Teaching Excellence Prize, given by the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
